Allrounders TIE it for India in a crucial encounter
After winning the toss and inviting NZ to batting, Indian bowlers did not show any appreciable effect on the Kiwis batting line-up.
Opener Martin Guptill made a century which helped Kiwis make a huge total of 314 runs at the end of 50 overs.
With 315 runs to chase down, Indian openers Rohit and Dhawan started the innings efficiently but were sent back to the pavilion by New Zealand sensation Corey Anderson. Then Virat Kohli and Rahane fell in a short duration which sent India into deep trouble.Later, Captain MS Dhoni (50 off 60 balls) with the help of Raina, fighted back with a half-century but both were dismissed at a crucial time.
After the fall of 6 wickets for just 184 runs, the allrounder duo Jadeja( 66* off 45 balls) and Ashwin (65 off 46 balls) fought back by scoring the essential boundaries and maintained the runrate. But,Ashwin got out with a brilliant catch taken by Guptill.
SIR Ravindra Jadeja didnot lose hope and fought back with the tailenders falling one after other, and finished the match as 'TIE'. As the last ball required 2 runs to win for India, Jadeja managed to get only a single. India scored 314 for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of 50 overs. Corey Anderson achieved his career best bowling figures 5-63. SIR Jadeja was announced the Man of the Match for his brilliant knock.
NewZealand leads the 5-match series 2-0 with 2 more matches to go.
